I am a real estate scholar and Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance and Real Estate at the Kogod School of Business. My research explores the intersection of efficiency and equity in housing, mortgage finance, and institutional real estate markets. My work has been published in the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research, Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, Review of Corporate Finance Studies, and Journal of Behavioral Finance, among others. I currently serve on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Real Estate Research and the Editorial Advisory Committee of the Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education. I am also a Faculty Affiliate for the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University.
Before coming to American University, I was an Assistant Professor at East Carolina University. I have followed a non-traditional path, obtaining my Ph.D. in Business Administration, Finance, after early career positions as a commissioned officer in the US Navy (Beat Army!), a Financial Analyst and Business Manager with DoD Contractors in the shipbuilding industry, and a stay-at-home mother.
